# Parallax Wallet

> The desktop wallet for Parallax, with its own full node built in: hold, send and receive LAX on Windows, macOS or Linux, no terminal needed.

**Parallax Wallet** is the desktop app for holding, sending and receiving
LAX. It runs its own full Parallax node inside the app, so your balance
and your transactions are checked by your computer rather than by someone
else's server. There's no terminal and nothing else to install: download
it, open it, and it walks you through the rest.

The project lives at [github.com/ParallaxProtocol/parallax-gui](https://github.com/ParallaxProtocol/parallax-gui).

## Is this the right option for me?

Use **Parallax Wallet** if you want to:

* Keep your LAX in a wallet on your own computer, protected by a password only you know.
* Create or import a recovery phrase, import a private key or keystore file, or use a [Ledger or Trezor](./hardware-wallets).
* Send and receive LAX, keep an address book, and see your full history.
* Run a full node that helps the network, without touching a command line.
* Keep your keys on a computer that never goes online, with the [offline signer](./offline-signing).
* Let an [AI assistant](../ai/parallax-wallet) read the chain through your node, with every action approved by you.

Use the [**Parallax client CLI**](../client/setup) if you want to run a node on a
headless server, mine, or control every flag from a terminal. Parallax
Wallet doesn't mine.

## Around the app

* **The sidebar** — your current account at the top (click it to switch
  accounts), then **Overview**, **Send**, **Receive** and **History**;
**Contacts**; and **Sign message** and **Verify message**. **Settings**
  sits at the bottom.
* **Overview** — your balance, what's waiting to be confirmed, and your
  recent activity.
* **The node bar** — the capsule at the bottom of the window shows
whether your node is *Syncing*, *Synced* or *Offline*, its latest
block, its peers and how long it has been up. Its button connects or
disconnects the node. Click the bar to open the **Network** panel:
the block clock, the latest blocks, your peers (where you can add,
trust or block one), the mempool, and more details about your node.
* **The top bar** — notifications, **Lock wallet**, and an update button
when a new version is ready.

## Getting help

In **Settings → About**, **Report a problem** and **Request a feature**
open a short form on GitHub, with the app's version filled in. Never
share your recovery phrase, password or a private key there, or anywhere
else.
